Heritage House Resort Wedding

Heritage House Resort was a beautiful destination wedding for this couple and did we all learn a lot from it. First I will say it is a beautiful location and the couple actually visits this resort a lot to get out of the city. So it was a very personal wedding venue for them.

Heritage House Resort is located in Little River, California. It is a dog friendly hotel with cabin like rooms spread out throughout the property. Since this is a more secluded wedding venue everything is in house; such as catering and bar. They do not allow any outside food and beverage on the property due to space. You can bring in your wedding cake and desserts though.

A lot of the guest stayed at the resort but there was also a lot more hotel options in Mendocino. It is a smaller town with not many restaurants so there is a wait for the restaurants in town but it is a very cute and quaint town.

Most guests drove up from the Napa area or even San Francisco which was about a 3 hour drive. I personally am located in Southern California so I flew into SFO and made the drive up the mountain.

Due to the location we did run into a harder time renting specialty rentals but Bright Event Rentals is the only rental company that delivers to Heritage House but there is a $2,000+ minimum you have to meet.

Since we wanted the wedding to feel very upscale elegant and very special the couple decided to source rentals locally in the Napa area then picked them up on the way up the mountain.

Let’s talk wedding vendors though. Since this is a smaller town there were not many options for sourcing local vendors. We brought all of the vendors in from the city and paid for a hotel for them (photographer, hair & makeup, myself as a planner). With that being said if you are looking to host your wedding here I highly recommend you book all of your vendors as soon as possible.

Now let’s get into the logistics of the resort. The couple choose to have their ceremony in the first larger location. The venue set up the ceremony chairs and provided a water station for the guests. There is a walk from the parking lot or even the rooms if your guests are staying on sight to the ceremony so just be mindful of the ladies shoes you recommend to wear.

Once the ceremony was over the guests went up to the resort deck for passed appetizers and cocktails. The couple actually flew in live artists for the wedding and their guests were able to enjoy having their portrait painted as a wedding favor. They all loved it!

From the cocktail hour the guests made their way into the resort where we utilized both rooms for their wedding guest which was 92. We went which a combination of round and long tables to give the space a lot of dimension. It was perfect as the second room has openings and guests could look into the main room for speeches and their first dance.

After the dinner portion of the night the entire wedding moved into the lounge area for dancing and desserts. It was a perfect space as there was a bar in it and it was a darker moody room so it was perfect for the dancing portion of the night.

The service of the venue was amazing! They have a very small but mighty team to get everything done for a wedding. I will say having a planner is necessary for this venue because it is so large and the resort is limited of staff so they are strictly focused on taking care of their venue and catering.

Overall all the guests and couple were so happy and enjoyed taking the party to one of their rooms after the wedding was over. Heritage House Resort is a beautiful wedding venue and also a great destination wedding location for all of your guests.
